Abstract
An interuniversity seminar of teachers of the course on contemporary history of European and American countries which dealt with questions of scholarship and techniques was held March 14-16 of this year at the History Department of Moscow University. This is the first time since the war that instructors of contemporary history have gathered to exchange opinions, in order to improve techniques in the teaching of contemporary history, thus raising the level of instructional and educational work among the students, and to improve the conditions for research. The outline of the textbook in preparation, Contemporary History of the Countries of Europe and America. Vol. 2, 1939-1970 [Noveishaia istoriia stran Evropy i Ameriki. Tom 2. 1939-1970 gg.] and the proposed modern history syllabus, prepared by the Chair of Modern and Contemporary History of Moscow University in collaboration with scholars of other educational and scholarly institutions, were distributed among the members of the seminar for discussion. Forty-five universities and a number of teachers' colleges sent representatives to the meeting.
