Abstract

The inter-turn short circuit fault is one of the most common faults in electrical machines. For safety reasons, reliability and maintenance, the fault needs to be detected and diagnosed as early as possible after its occurrence. This paper focuses on inter-turn short circuit fault detection in stator windings of a Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). A time frequency method has been used for analysis and data processing for detection of different levels of short circuit faults. Experimental data have been employed to validate the simulation results.
