Abstract
The intertrack interference in squeezed tracks of a magnetic hard disk drive is investigated based on captured waveforms. Specifically, extracted intertrack interference impulses and statistics are presented as a function of track squeeze and read offset. The bit-error-rate improvement of intertrack interference cancellation is shown based on simulations with captured drive waveforms. Architecture and implementation aspects for hard disk drives with intertrack interference cancellation are described.
