Abstract
Abstract Showers produced in photographic emulsions by high energy nucleons (1010–1012 eV) — the so-called “jets” — are analysed in the present paper. The analysis is based on Fermi's statistical theory extended to the case of interaction between a nucleon and nucleus. It is shown that the main features of these showers can be explained without assuming the existence of two different classes of interactions as hitherto has been done.
