Abstract

Quality control indicator in clinical laboratory is defined as the measure of the degree of a set of inherent characteristics fulfils requirements. It is a powerful tool for laboratory quality improvement which can be used to monitor and evaluate the performance throughout critical aspects of pre-examination, examination and post-examination processes. Targeted quality improvement can be obtained by quantizing the quality levels in each phase with the use of quality control indicators. To enhance the quality management of health care, regulate the behavior of clinical diagnosis and treatment, and promote the standardization and harmonization of medical service, National Health and Family Planning Commission has published 15 quality indicators in clinical laboratory.
