Abstract
This study offers a better clarification of the relationship between different predictors and the performance of interpersonal citizenship behaviors (ICB). Exploring the role of individual’s attitude toward ICB in mediating the relationship between procedural justices and the performance of ICB, this paper try to solve the contradictory results emerged in the literature. We also expands the criterion domain of the ICB predictors extending recent researches on the topic. In particular, we explore the role of individual’s alter perceived prototypicality (the extent to which a member is perceived as a typical representative of the department). Additionally, we speculate about the relationship between being helped (recipient of ICB) and both individual’s ICB attitude and performance. Using data from a 167-member world-leader chassis manufacturer, we found support for our hypotheses.
