Abstract
International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) was established in November 2006 by the merger of the international confederation of free trade unions, the world confederation of labour, and eight national trade union organizations. ITUC aims to defend and promote the rights of working people. During that month the ‘L20’, comprising representatives of trade unions of the G20 member states, welcomed a declaration adopted by G20 ministers responsible for labour and employment that called for a human-centred strategic approach to underpin recovery from the economic, health and employment impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. The global shifts—just transitions pillar focuses on the thematic areas of climate; and future of work. ITUC urges all employers to develop plans that climate-proof their operations, and encourages all governments to develop ‘Just Transition’ measures that address, and protect workers and communities from, the onwards impacts of climate change.
