Abstract

International Chamber Of Commerce (ICC) founded in 1919, is the primary global business organization, representing enterprises worldwide from all business sectors. The ICC aims to support international trade and investment, to promote multilateral trade rules and standards, and to facilitate commercial dispute resolution. The executive board consists of up to 30 business leaders and ex officio members appointed by the ICC world council upon recommendation of the chairperson. Members serve for a three-year term, one-third of them retiring at the end of each year. The ICC supports the elimination of tax obstacles to cross-border business transactions, and co-operates with the efforts of the organisation for economic co-operation and development and UN to develop international taxation standards. The ICC provides a framework for settling international commercial disputes. The commission on arbitration acts as a forum for experts and also reviews the ICC’s dispute settlement services.
