Abstract

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) aims to support international trade and investment, to promote multilateral trade rules and standards, and to facilitate commercial dispute resolution. The International Secretariat is led by the Secretary-General, who is appointed by the World Council on the recommendation of the Executive Board. In March 2020 the ICC and the World Health Organization announced a call to action to mobilize businesses around the world to prevent the further spread and to combat the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, including through the facilitation of information flows. In March 2020 the ICC launched a Digital Trade Standards Initiative, aimed at standardizing digital trade and at establishing technical interoperability among technology platforms and blockchain-based networks. The ICC Business Action to Support the Information Society initiative, launched in 2006, promotes the global business dimension in dialogue over the use of digital technologies in advancing economic growth and social development.
