Abstract
This study presents an overview of the higher education internationalization process in Brazil, analyzing the contribution of high education institutions (HEI) through student academic mobility for human capital development. Understanding the relevance of the higher education internationalization and the need to insert the Brazilian northeast in this context, particularly the city of Salvador - Bahia, it unveils the process of internationalization of higher education in 46 HEIs in the city of Salvador, active until January 2019, identifying how their actions are structured promote education internationalization. Based on the analyzes proposed by the study, it is concluded that a significant majority of the private HEIs in Salvador are not working on the internationalization of teaching as an inherent part of the training of their students, and, if they do, they are not exploring the tool for presenting students this content, through its institutional websites.
