Abstract
The long-range intermolecular forces between acetone molecules and between methyl alcohol molecules are computed from optical dispersion data and dipole moments, and the short-range repulsive forces are estimated from second virial coefficients. The experimental second virial coefficients for (CH3)2CO and CH3OH are those of Lambert and his co-workers (Proc. Roy. Soc. (London) 196A, 113 (1949)).
