Abstract

We observe intermittent large amplitude bursting behavior in a Hindmarsh-Rose model, which appears as rare but recurrent events. The system manifests transition from regular periodic bursting to intermittent large amplitude bursting via Pomeau-Manneville (PM) intermittency route. We mainly focus on the dynamical origin as well as statistical properties of intermittent large amplitude bursting. Especially, the probability distribution function of rare large amplitude bursting signifies non-Gaussian with the long-tail distribution.
