Abstract

We extend a previous analysis about the mechanism for generating radiatively a gauge symmetry breaking at an intermediate-mass scale, in the framework ofE6 superstring-inspired models. The breaking is obtained driving the squared masses of some standard-model singlet scalars from the «survivor»\(b_{1,1} (\underline {27} + \underline {\overline {27} } )\) to negative values, by means of Yukawa couplings of sufficient magnitude. Performing a numerical calculation, the effect is shown on the intermediate-mass scaleMI of the one-loop corrections to the effective scalar potential, varying the Yukawa couplings both in the27 and in the\({\overline {27} }\) sector of the survivors.
