Abstract
The low energy levels of the 39K nucleus are examined in the framework of the intermediate coupling model in which the (d 3 2 ) −1 proton hole is assumed to couple to the 2 +, 3 − and 5 − core states of the doubly magic 40Ca nucleus. Comments concerning the parameters are made. In particular the coupling strength parameters are related to the dynamical deformation parameters obtained in coupled channels analysis of the inelastic scattering processes.
