Abstract
Intermaxillary fixation (IMF) is a common procedure used in the management of facial trauma. The conventional practice of using wires to secure arch bars or buttons to teeth however significantly prolongs intraoperative time and poses an increased risk of needle stick injury to operators. We present a series of twenty six patients treated using ‘Baurmash’ bondable arch bars and have found this technique to have many advantages over conventional methods of providing IMF and thus recommend the use of this simple yet safe and efficient technique.
