Abstract
Abstract It is shown that the ferric chloride-sulfuric acid color reaction for cholesterol gives erroneously high results in the presence of even traces of bromide. This bromide interference is eliminated by shaking the serum with silver iodate prior to extraction with ethanol-acetone.
