Abstract
In this paper, we propose an interference coordination strategy for full-dimension (FD) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) heterogeneous networks (HetNet). The HetNet is formed by a single macro base station (BS) coexisting and sharing the same spectrum with a number of small cells. Two-dimensional (2D) large-scale antenna array is deployed at macro BS, while regular MIMOs are deployed at small cells. We derive a deterministic equivalent of macro users' signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR), and a lower-bound of small cell users' average SINR. Based on these, with only statistical channel state information (CSI) at macro BS, we propose a coordination strategy to mitigate the interference between macro cell and small cells. Simulation results show that the proposed coordination strategy performs well in terms of the achievable sum rate and average user rate.
