Abstract

Interface optical phonons are studied in the case of a quantumdot (QD) with prolate and oblate spheroidal geometries within thedielectric continuum approach. We considered CdSe or CdS QDsimbedded in a host material which is modelled as an infinitemedium. The surface optical phonon modes, the correspondingfrequencies, and the electron-phonon interaction Hamiltonian arereported. Comparison is made with previous works which onlyconsidered strictly spherical dots. We conclude that deviationsfrom the perfect spherical shape could be responsible forobservable physical effects in Raman spectra.
