Abstract
The variation of the electronic structure of V(100) slabs in sandwich-type M1-V-M2 systems is studied by using the Green function matching method and empirical tight binding with s, p and d bands. Combinations of Nb, Cr, Mo and Ta are used for M1 and M2. The author chooses to study mainly the local density of states for each V interface as a function of V slab size. For the slab sizes studied he finds that the properties for the sandwich system are reduced to those of uncoupled interfaces of two semi-infinite media in contact.
