Abstract

Learning languages is a necessity today. Teaching programs, methods and materials, teacher potentials together with motivational reasons are decisive for the success of the teacher. But learning a language alone is not enough; the learner should also be able to empathize with the culture of the language in order to avoid certain interference errors. This is based on intercultural elements of serious relevance. Inspired by the literature methodology, comparative statistics, the textbooks “Begegnungen/Erkundungen” German as a foreign language and “Yedi İklim Türkçe” Turkish as a foreign language with the corresponding Working books and CDs qualitatively are explored from Level A1 to C2 based on patrimonial-intercultural elements and compared these discussed cultural aspects to interculturality. The aim is to examine the cultural elements in the teaching and learning texts and to evaluate them qualitatively as well as quantitatively. The result is intended to show to what extent foreign understanding is addressed in language, literature and culture and is processed in the textbooks.
