Abstract

Indigenous people in urban situations in Rio de Janeiro live under invisibility and inequities. Active leaders fight for better living conditions, with quality, maintaining a living culture and the principle of self-direction. Through the case study, this article highlighted the main contributions of an elder from the TUKANO trunk: Cacique Doethyró, as a way of making public the institutions' gratitude for their intersectoral participation aimed at promoting health.
