Abstract

The paper uses empirical research and examples from various cultures to address the issue whether information technology changes ethical and religious culture or if the reverse is the case. Since the 1990s, society has faced a technological explosion which has persisted into the 21st century. It is therefore necessary to scrutinize how culture and technology are related. Every culture is different in its organizational, national, ethical, or religious dimensions and not all technologies are equally acceptable in all cultures. The better we understand culture, the better we can harness information technology to its challenges and requirements. The paper will also examine impact of organizational culture on information technology (IT) -- its adoption, diffusion, and usage. Inevitably attention will be focused on the ethical, religious and organizational aspects.Information technology has helped to preserve, promote and expand the reach of culture in global society, to accelerate its fusion with arts. The paper studies the impact of Information Technology on Indian culture and its celebration in various communities. India is as diverse as it is plural. Its variegated beliefs and rituals have a charisma that is as exotic as it is sacred. Information technology administers to the relevance and popularity. The use of technology for continuance of culture in India by various communities will also be evaluated.
