Abstract

Abstract Pot experiments were conducted to study the response of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) seedlings, grown on both alluvial and calcareous soils, to Fe/Zn combinations applied with different rates of P. Dry matter yields and total Fe and Zn uptake increased with P applications. However, Fe concentrations of plants increased only slightly while Zn concentrations decreased when the same P treatments were applied. Optimum Fe/Zn ratios for plant growth ranged between 30/20 and 45/10 for plants grown on the alluvial soil and 45/10 for plants grown on the calcareous soil.
