Abstract

A kinetic study has been made of the interaction of ozone with homo- and copolymers of vinyl chloride, acrylic acid and its esters. It is shown that depending on the nature of monomers in the series vinyl chloride, acrylic acid, methyl acrylate, butyl acrylate, polymeric products with unsaturated endgroup of differing structure are formed. Rate constants for reactions of O 3 with conjugated C=C bonds have been determined for PVC and for copolymers of vinyl chloride with methyl and butyl acrylates.
