Abstract

The coordinative unsaturation of Cu + and Ag + ions dispersed in ZSM-5 zeolites was studied by means of the adsorption of CO and NH 3 . EXAFS was used to check the local environment of noble metal cations. Adsorption microcalorimetry and IR spectroscopy were used to characterise the nature and the stability of the complexes formed at the metal sites. Two distinct, nearly equally populated families of sites were revealed in both Me + -ZSM-5 samples, corresponding to a different coordinative unsaturation of the metal cations.
