Abstract

The influence of impurities on the motion of a kink pair is discussed. In the case of repulsion-type impurity, there is a critical velocity υ cr for the incident kink pair. If the velocity of the incident kink pair υ equals to υ cr , its trajectory of motion in phase space will branch. For υ < υ cr , forbidden regions and allowable regions for its motion will exist and separate each other. In the presence of external force and damping, the pinned position of the kink pair is not only dependent on the external force but also relates to the distribution of neighboring impurities.
