Abstract

Abstract The pollen morphology of the nine species of Asphodelus sect. Asphodelus (Asphodelaceae) and their infraspecific taxa has been investigated. Polar, equatorial transversal and equatorial longitudinal axes have been measured, and EL/ET ratios calculated. Differences in pollen size are in most cases related to ploidy level, and provide for most species useful taxonomic characters at the infraspecific level.
