Abstract

To date, health information spreads across several social media platforms. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the seeking health information available on social media using the Net Valence model and Risk-Perception Attitude framework. An online survey was administered to 1,308 respondents who had searched for health information on social media. Data analysis was performed using covariance-based structural equation modeling in the AMOS 24.0 software environment. This study result in gender comparison indicated different results among men and women, where the perceived risk only affected women in seeking health information on social media. In addition, perceived benefits, health self-efficacy, and subjective norms influenced the intention to seek health information on social media.
