Abstract

Microtubules (MTs) are indispensable for numerous vital cellular activities such as cell division, cell function, intracellular transport, etc. Therefore, anomalies in these can give molecular diseases for example, Alzheimer and Parkinson¯s diseases. These components of the cytoskeleton are composed of tubulin protein, which has an exceptionally high structural electric charge and dipole moment. Consequently, it is probable that microtubules could be a susceptible target to electric field through which one could modulate the function of biological systems.
