Abstract

Present mobile communications enable terminal mobility (TM), that is, mobile stations can initiate and receive calls at any geographic location. Currently, CCITT study groups are making efforts to standardize universal personal telecommunication (UPT) for personal mobility (PM) so that users can initiate and receive calls at any terminal. Specifically, the authors refer to TM and PM-supported telecommunication as personal mobile telecommunication (PMT). The authors propose an intelligent mobile communications network (IMN) architecture that effectively implements PMT by minor extension of second-generation public land mobile network functions. >
