Abstract

Intelligent service robots can be of significant use at places where frequent services are to be delivered. Mail delivery is an example of one such service which deals with delivering mails from the central office room to individuals at their places. This type of service is common in an office environment where there are large numbers of people. The task is a challenge for the service robot as it has to move to destinations avoiding obstacles on the way. This paper presents a mail delivery robot to meet the objective. The robot has the feature of being controlled through a mobile phone by the operator. A scaled down model is developed and has worked successfully and the results are presented.
