Abstract

Abstract In the previous chapters, multimedia forensics techniques based on the analysis of the data stream, i.e., the audio-visual signal, aimed at detecting artifacts and inconsistencies in the (statistics of the) content were presented. Recent research highlighted that useful forensic traces are also left in the file structure, thus offering the opportunity to understand a file’s life-cycle without looking at the content itself. This chapter is then devoted to the description of the main forensic methods for the analysis of image and video file formats.
