Abstract

Global health is an emergent topic in nursing research and practice. The essence of integrative nursing is, ultimately, about a global lens in how people view health, wellbeing, individuals, systems, and the interconnectedness between them. There is power in taking a global stance in the challenges that face nurses as a profession, a people, a human race, and an international community of concerned citizens. The willingness to embrace a global stance on health is influenced by a host of questions that must be taken into consideration: what is needed, who is involved, when is it time to move forward, why is it important, where to start, and how to engage. A global stance offers a starting point of shared power and an integrative paradigm with which to lead the effort. It resounds the call to heal from a space of compassionate moral imagination.
