Abstract

The article actualizes the problem of finding scientifically-based ways to improve a school textbook based on modern views on the post-non-classical stage of the development of science and the need to reflect them in the content of general education. In particular, the emphasis is placed on the integrity of scientific knowledge about the surrounding world. Based on the analysis of the content of the textbook “Combined Science: Synergy”, created in 2016 in the UK for secondary school, the didactic means (the main text, the apparatus of organization of assimilation, illustrative material, orientation apparatus) by which the textbook implements the principle of integrating the content of education are considered. This research of the means of implementing the principle of integration in a modern textbook reveals its focus on achieving one of the main education goals – the formation of a holistic scientific picture of the world.
