Integration of Electronic Displays on Fixed Wing Transport Aircraft: A Vionics Certification

Abstract

Electronic Flight Display System certification can present wide challenges in showing compliance with many existing regulatory requirements. This paper provides a guidance for manufacturers, system integrators and airworthiness authorities for the design, integration, and approval of electronic flight displays for fixed wing transport aircraft. Discussion on various existing standards available for aircraft electronic displays with their means of compliance at various stages of system certification has been presented in this paper. Detailed failure hazards associated with the failure of display functions are also provided in the paper.
