Abstract

The research aimed to integrate the format system (4Mat) into the content of the social studies course and to know its impact on developing the habits of mind among second-grade female students in the city of Mecca. To achieve this goal, the two researchers used the quasi-experimental approach with a pre-post design based on one group, and a guide was prepared. A guide explaining the integration of the format system (4Mat) while teaching the unit on the Arab and Islamic world to female students in the second intermediate grade. A scale of habits of mind consisting of (25) statements was also prepared, and after ensuring its validity and reliability, it was applied to a sample of (30) female students. Of the second-year middle school students, the results showed that there were statistically significant differences at the level (α≤0.05) between the average scores of the second intermediate year female students before and after applying the format system in the habits of mind scale in favor of the post-measurement. To measure the effect, the Eta coefficient )2) was calculated, which amounted to (0.92); Which indicates that integrating the format system into the content of the social studies course has a significant impact on developing the habits of mind among female students. The two researchers recommended the need to benefit from the format system (4Mat) during education, and focus on developing habits of mind among female students. Keywords: 4Mat system, social studies, habits of mind.
