Integrating Internet of Things with maintenance spare parts' supply chain

Abstract

The supply chain and logistics are integral part of any business, streamlining and upgrading of it can largely impact the companies in a positive manner. Spare part supply chain management have high importance in several industries due to the high cost of spare parts supply and inventory and the uncertainty of spare parts demand. Companies in these industries are trying different management techniques to support spare parts management and logistics. In this paper, we propose an integrated technological approach based on Internet of Things (IOT) concept to better predict spare parts demand and enhance the spare parts supply chain efficiency. The introduced model is particularly advantageous in high-value assets' spare parts management.
