Abstract
This article details a teaching practice of integrating music compositional concepts and dance technique class by using technique class material to embody music compositional forms. The compositional concepts presented in this article are traditional compositional forms based on Western classical music. This practice exemplifies cross-curricular connections, offers a deeper understanding of both the compositional forms and the technique class material, and takes this particular curricular content out of the composition class, allowing more time for investigating other choreographic processes. This article outlines the compositional forms, their integration into class exercises, the pedagogical benefits, and recommendations for applying this methodology.
