Abstract

Heavy metal toxicity is an alarming challenge, since these metals exhibit negative impacts on ecosystem and human health. Carbon-based materials hold the promising, alternative, and effective material to eliminate pollutants in contaminated soils as it acts as a heavy metal adsorbent in soil remediation. Interestingly, carbon-based materials integrated with magnetic particles possess an enhanced absorption capacity in the heavy metal removal and it also removes the other organic contaminants. Moreover, new approaches are developed by using carbon-based materials integrated with magnetic particles for their long-term, cost effective, and sustainable prospects to environmental pollution. This chapter focused on the role and conspicuousness of carbon-based materials integrated with magnetic particles taking into account in heavy metal removal. Moreover, this chapter ultimately grasped the highlights of contemporary advances in these materials as adsorbents. Carbon-based materials eventually reduce the heavy metal toxicity besides being as a soil rejuvenators.
