Among most economically important food legumes grown across the world, cool season legumes such as chickpea, faba bean, field pea, grass pea, and lentil and warm season legumes such as soybean, cowpea, mung bean, pigeon pea, horse gram, and black gram are crucial for agriculture subsidizing nation’s food and nutritional security, crop intensification, and sustainable crop production. One of the most devastating biotic stresses of crop legumes in arid and semiarid regions substantially diminishing crop yield is fungal foliar diseases. This chapter mainly focuses on the most economically important integrated fungal foliar diseases including Ascochyta blight, anthracnose, botrytis diseases, downy mildew, pleoichyta leaf spot, powdery mildew, and rust diseases. Species of Uromyces, Botrytis, Stemphylium, Erysiphe, and Ascochyta cause fungal foliar diseases such as Botrytis gray mold and Ascochyta blight in cool season legumes such as in chickpea, lentil, faba bean, and field pea. Moreover, species of Erysiphe and Cercospora in warm season legumes such as in mung bean and cowpea cause Cercospora leaf spot and powdery mildew. Further, we emphasized on etiology of causative agents and the integrated disease management (IDM) which is fundamentally established on host plant resistance (HPR), genetic resistance (GR), or integrated pest management (IPM). Biotic stresses impact on crop yield and productivity affecting farmer livelihoods, for which a sustainable farming system is mandatory to be introduced. Different cultural practices, physical methods such as crop rotation, field sanitation, biocontrol agents, host resistance with bio-stimulants and botanical fungicides were found to be ameliorating the crop yield. Future perspectives and strategies involve the use of resistant varieties in association with other facets of sustainable management that could enhance crop productivity in semiarid rain-fed areas.
