Abstract
The adaptive acoustic echo cancellation microphone system is an effective technique for reducing acoustic echoes in a hands-free telephone system. This system consists of two closely spaced directional microphones pointing in opposite directions and a low-order adaptive filter. This paper presents an integrated adaptive noise and echo cancellation microphone (ANECM) system based on the adaptive echo cancellation microphone structure with an additional low-order filter for noise cancellation. By using two highly correlated microphone signals, the ANECM system provides satisfactory performance at much lower complexity than the combination of the traditional adaptive noise cancellation and acoustic echo cancellation techniques. Computer simulations based on real data collected from a typical conference room are also presented.
