Abstract

DR. WILLIAM KRIVIT~ Minneapolis. We have recently used deoxypyridoxine in treatment of a few patients with leukemia. If the patient is ill with leukemia, we find that urinary excretion of xanthurenic acid after loading with t ryptophan is lower than normal. DR. McCoY. Although it has been postulated that an alternate pathway may exist for conversion of hydroxykynurenin to hydroxyanthranilic acid, I assume that if such a pathway is present in patients with mongolism, it must also be blocked by deoxypyridoxine. DR. SIDNEY ISRAELS, Winnipeg. Do these individuals have glycollic acid aciduria, as occurs in patients with oxaluria? DR. McCoY. We have no information on this point.
