Abstract

Background: Dental anxiety is a problem that often occurs when performing dental care. Dental anxiety is associated with oral health problems and psychological problems. Dental anxiety is a complex multifactorial phenomenon, in certain countries, dental anxiety is the most common in children. Dental anxiety (dental anxiety) can arise due to several things, such as a negative past or terrible encounters, especially in adolescence (experience conditioning), vicarious learning from anxious family members or peers, individual personality characteristics such as neuroticism and self-consciousness. , lack of understanding, exposure to frightening depictions of dentists in the media, the person's coping style, perception of body image, and prone position lying in the dental chair. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the provision of instrumental music therapy with Murottal Al-Qur'an on the level of anxiety during a child's dental examination at the Plus An-Nur Kindergarten, Cilawu District, Garut Regency. Methods: This type of research uses experimental research similar to a quasi-experimental design by designing a two-group pre-posttest design, measuring instrument facial image scale data analysis using a paired sample t-test statistical test. Results: statistical test using Paired Sample T-test obtained p-value for the level of anxiety with the provision of instrumental music therapy that is 0.021 (sig <0.05), for the level of anxiety with the provision of murottal al-qur'an is 0.000 (sig <0.05) of the tworesults have a sig value of 0.021 (sig <0.05) and a sig value of 0.000 (sig <0.05), Conclusion: there is an effect of instrumental music therapy and murottal Al-Qur'an on anxiety levels during dental examinations of children in Kindergarten Plus An -Nur, Cilawu District, Garut Regency.
