To assess shift of mid-line structures shown on radiographs it is usually necessary for measurements to be taken. A graticule has been used in the Department of Neuroradiology for the last two years and has been found useful to demonstrate shifts. A prototype with ruled lines on cleared X-ray film base was first used. Later it was redrawn and photographic copies were made (Fig. 1).
