Abstract

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), the largest research organisation in Australia, has set itself a five-year development strategy for 1985–90. The five main objectives encourage better procedures for identifying growth areas, a more concentrated effort focused on fewer national objectives, more systematic evaluation, better communication between CSIRO and user groups, and more flexible staffing policies.
