Abstract
An instantaneously adaptive delta sigma modulator, where the pulse amplitude is increased or decreased by a constant value, is proposed. Its performances for sinusoidal signals and speech are studied. While an adaptive delta modulator operating at similar bit rates will perform better, the delta sigma modulator is useful in signal processing applications.
