Abstract

Between the end of 2021 and the end of 2022 the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Wallace collection in London hosted the exhibition Inspiring Walt Disney: the Animation of French Decorative Arts, in two iterations. This review looks at how the curators presented eighteenth-century decorative arts to the general public and addresses some of the more critical questions underlying the exhibition, which remained veiled in the galleries.
