Abstract
For the first time, strontium hydrogen phosphate, SrHPO4 (SrHP) with or without brushite (dicalcium phosphate dihydrate CaHPO4.2H2O) is electrocrystallised on titanium substrate by electrochemical deposition technique. SrHP is converted to strontiumapatite, Sr10(PO4)6(OH)2. Different Ca substitution percentages by Sr were applied ranged from 0% to 100%. The electrolyte was 0.167 M CaCl2, 0.167 M SrCl2 and 0.1 M NH4H2PO4. The results showed that at all Sr substitution percentages (0%–100%) and at coating time of one hour, the coating layer is brushite or strontium hydrogen phosphate at 100% Ca substitution by Sr. Furthermore, with increasing Ca substitution by Sr percentages from 0% to 100%, the coating thickness is significantly decreased. Moreover, with increasing Ca substitution by Sr percentages (0%–100%), the morphology and composition are changed. Thickness and weight gain are decreased with sodium hydroxide treatment.
