Abstract

University extension, one of the columns of University needed to be reinvented whilst the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19), through innovative practices learning such as the use of online social networks, which constituted a strong base of information in this scenario. Thus, the study mapped the innovation actions and learning trough online social networks and the extension projects of the Department of Information Science at the Federal University of Paraiba. Therefore, it started from a descriptive and documentary research, with qualitative approach, using data collection through an electronic questionnaire with the coordinator's of the referred extension projects. For the analyses, critical-reflective inference was used. In the results, the projects and the profile coordinators were characterized and the innovation and learning actions were identified in online social networking environment, highlighting Instagram, Facebook, podcast, lives, sites, Linktree, drive and use of platforms like Google Meet. It is concluded that innovation in the university extension was driven by the use of digital tools for sharing scientific content in remote platforms and online social networks, fostering learning and endorsing social networks as allies in the effectuation of these actions.
