Abstract

The article outlines the main tasks, challenges and priority measures to be taken for the effective innovative development of general secondary education institutions in the context of the introduction of STEM education. The authors define STEM education as a relevant pedagogical innovation that promotes comprehensive development, formation of key competencies of students and identification of their innovative potential, as well as provides vocational training for young people in the scientific and technical field, and thereby contributes to the development of the economy and sustainable development of the State. The stages and ways of implementing STEM education, which will lead to successful innovative development of general secondary education institutions, which involves the development of organizational culture, educational policy of the educational institution, and management of the educational process, are substantiated. Recommendations are provided that will contribute to the modernization of the educational process of general secondary education institutions in general and the implementation of the main tasks of STEM education.
